We got one like this photo, and then I read to try a regular baby bottle if they don’t like that and he hates both. We are doing whole cows milk as well.
I posted about a week ago about our Pygmy goat giving us a surprise baby on Christmas Eve. Well mama was taking good care of him and feeding him perfectly up until 8 days old. She absolutely will not let him eat, she butts him and kicks him. We’ve tried restraining her so he can eat but he...
Oh wow, I had no idea milk replacer wasn’t great. Thank you! I will get some whole milk and try that. He definitely hates the bottle so I’ll try putting it on my finger. Being a Pygmy, how much would you say he should be eating at a time? I read to feed him every 4 hours
Thank you! We’ve Miller her a little to try and help but it doesn’t seem to help. He definitely has teeth, I’ll have to feel them to see if they’re sharp. I appreciate your help!
No redness or cuts or anything. I read about mastitis but her udders aren’t hot or anything. She’s acting 100% fine except that she won’t let him nurse. You’re probably right and she’s just sore. Maybe giving her a break overnight and just keep trying to bottle feed is best
I was wondering that, so we did get some milk replacer and have been trying to get him to take it but he refuses it too. I’m sure it’s just the bottle and we have to keep working at it. It’s just strange to me that she’s been doing fine with him for a week and suddenly she isn’t. It’s our first...
We’ve been holding her so he could nurse every so often and it seems like he’s just not getting enough. He tries to run to her to nurse every chance he gets which of course we have to stop because she just kicks and butts him away. So stressful 😭
Hi everyone! Baby is doing really well, he’s 8 days old now. But suddenly today when he tries to nurse, mom either kicks or butts him. She was doing just fine til now. Any ideas why? He absolutely will not drink from a bottle so we’re desperate to get her to let him nurse again.
That little coat is adorable! I thought about a heat lamp but I was worried it wouldn’t be warm enough. She sure shocked us having this little guy and of course it would be mid winter!
Oh yea, it’s going to be 20. I can bring him and mama into the house and keep them in my laundry room. How long until he would be okay to be outside under 40 degrees?
