The coop finally came over the fence from my wonderful neighbor. That dirt spot on the top, front point is where it landed. Heavy and with one person short to lift it over, that's not bad. It's a six foot fence. Not too much left for me to finish building. I do have enough hardware cloth to...

Prickly weeds/How do you safely get rid of them?

I love the goats they rent every year right here in the city. http://photos.oregonlive.com/oregonian/2010/10/goats_hired_to_mow_southeast_p_2.html more pics http://topics.oregonlive.com/tag/goats/photos.html I make it a point to do a little detour in my walk to visit them whenever they are here.

I dig the roots out on such things. You could try TheEasyGarden.com part of this site. There's a link at the bottom of each page. Good luck, stickers are hateful things.

.it just leaves my shoes a wreck, that's all. LOL.. we were posting at the same time, unknown to each other.

Using tarp over run for rain/snow?

You should get good use of those tarps for years, so that $ is always a worthy investment. Sorry your first trial didn't work so hot. I hate it when that happens. You'll get it figured out eventually. My best tip is probably to remember to wear galoshes anytime you are still ridding yourself of...

    Bad idea

Ugly ? Not all of them. I order from Zappos and have for a long time. More choices, excellent service. If you have trouble getting the right size, order the one that's the smaller of the two your picking from. Put them in the dryer for... oh..maybe a minute. Just warm. NOT hot. Pull them out...

Using tarp over run for rain/snow?

I've spent too much time dealing with one of those over the patio top things, and water pooling. With the dog kennels pieces being so sturdy, and tarps having grommets...can you cinch everything up tight between those two points ? A nifty knit like project.

If you have a chicken ark, and ONLY a chicken ark....

So just up enough they sit where you want them to, and high enough they're not wallowing in their poop. That picture helped a lot. The others I've seen were only "For Sale" coops. Knowing you are useing yours and all is well is exactly what I needed. Thank you !

If you have a chicken ark, and ONLY a chicken ark....

gophert, Thank you so much. I've been obsessing over that. Since it seems you are the perfect person to answer the "do they bump their heads" question, may I ask one more thing please ? I need to add a roost inside. Reading it seems a 2X4 is best ,broad side up. How tall do I make it over...

If you have a chicken ark, and ONLY a chicken ark....

How do the chickens fit inside ? Do they bump their heads ? I'm still in the getting ready for chickens phase. See my coop on My Page. It's the same type. My plan, according to my chicken keeping neighbors should work. The coop originally was to be moved, but it got too heavy. So now the plan...

Piles and piles of dry leaves already...

And if you don't have enough trees, it's totally okay to take the brown bags of leaves folks put out on yard debris pickup day. If anyone's around I have asked..but I've never felt bad about just grabbing, since I have then saved them $1 to $1.50 per bag that they were going to be charged extra...

I would be afraid to go out the back door, for fear they would all stampede, thinking I had treats for them.

How is peat moss for bedding? I don't see it used a lot.

It addition to Mark's excellent gardener advice, I will add.... Dry peat needs to be handled carefully, as small dry particles become air born and are a breathing hazard. I use a fancy filtered mask when handling, and before moisture is added. I have always wondered if the peat I have inhaled...
