Just started a batch of this natural white vinegar based coop cleaner. Anyone else use vinegar rather than bleach?
PS I did get the idea from the book in the background.
These girls (I hope!) are about 9 weeks old. No names yet. They're new here and still so timid they run from treats (the other girls will often follow my daughter because she likes to give them cheese).
They are vent-sexed hatchery chicks sold as "araucana," but, the farm I buy from sells...
Lucy and Ethel:
They go out with the flock to forage and are, predictably, near the bottom of the pecking order (but it's a peaceful order). Sometimes Lucy and the Polish (yet to be named) fluff up their necks and hop up and down at each other. It's more like a dance off than aggression. :)
Thanks for the advice. She's definitely "grounded" for a while! I did put several enrichment things in the run to help keep her occupied. I'm so thankful she survived the night, Archer (dog) gets extra treats today!
Guess who we found this morning!? Well, technically our dog found her. Bless his heart, I'm not sure who was more surprised. Anyway, smart girl survived a night in the woods. She's home now with the rest of the flock.
I sure hope not! Comb is almost non existent and this bird is the same size as the other (last bird was bigger, especially in the legs). These weren't straight run chicks, so it would be very weird to get a roo twice! Thankfully, if it crows, they'll swap it out for me any time.
