I do have denagard but right now she is the only one showing symptoms and has been isolated from the flock as she was broody and now has a chick with her. i don't want the chick taking an antibiotic unless it needs to, i have been monitoring the chick closely.

I came home to find a large mass hanging out of my gooses back end. From what I've looked up most likely a prolapsed vent but I'd like to know for sure. The picture is gross. We did end up putting her down, it was pretty bad.. Has anyone seen this before?
I very much appreciate you telling me that. In trying to help her I was sure I killed her but the release of fluid makes sense. Maybe she would have lasted a few more days, so sad that it happened the way it did. I'm sorry you had to go through it too.
I feel horrible, think I may have killed my chicken. The vet said had ascites and drained the fluid off her abdomen. She said the mass in her stomach would keep growing and kill her eventually. That was a couple months ago. Just recently her abdomen got large and hard and she wasn't moving...
I have read that they are bad mothers but as protective as my mama is over her nest I think she will be even more protective once they hatch. When she takes a few minutes break from sitting she chases my 3 geese if they get too close to the area near her nest and they run from her. I can't wait...
