    Hen is Struggling to Lay

Hi all, My barred rock, Guillaume, almost two years old, has been taking a while to lay her eggs, and Ive been concerned in the past that she’s having a hard time getting them out. Today, while laying in her spot(behind my white sage plant) she came out looking stressed and still in trying to...

Anyone have any guesses on breeds?

Sesame, my full cemani, is also acting like she might lay soon: For some reason I don’t have many close up pictures of her but she a darling.

Little Dumpling, the youngest and third pic, has become a hen. She has laid a very small olive egg!

Anyone have any guesses on breeds?

Its really interesting because he said he had leghorns and ayam cemanis but never Americauna or easter eggers. I’m thrilled to have her though, I lost my beautiful dark colored EE earlier this year(rip Pepperoni😭)

Thanks for the response! Its about 12 weeks so I thought that was about when pullets start turning pinker. I also think she might be mixed with leghorn which Ive read develop quickly. Here’s another pic:

Anyone have any guesses on breeds?

I got these three about 8 weeks ago from a local guy that has Cemanis. They were all different ages with the white one being oldest at about 4 weeks and the smallest being the youngest at about 2 weeks (he wasn’t 100% on age because he doesn’t keep tabs). Here’s them now. First picture is the...

I am planning to do something controversial, eating eggs immediately after worming with Ivermectin.

Love this thread! Discourse is brilliant save for that gross condescension. Happy to follow the withdrawal times in order to not accidentally create resistant parasites, despite not causing any harm to myself. I’m just thoughtful like that😎. Anyone citing not trusting things from China or Russia...

EE found on coop floor, half of head feathers are up, droopy eye

My feed store had ivermectin and employee with chickens said she uses it twice a year to worm her chickens. I gave it as suggested to Pepperoni(my hen) for 24 hours and today she is on ACV water and a high protein diet. Last night she ate some of the food mixed into the water, well she drank it...

EE found on coop floor, half of head feathers are up, droopy eye

She is more alert and active but she is still panting and does not want food or water. I am using a dropper to put it on her beak and hope she is drinking it as it rolls down. She has definitely drank some

Found a round worm in her poo, could this be the cause? What can I do immediately?!

EE found on coop floor, half of head feathers are up, droopy eye

Sorry to say she’s worse today. Panting nearly all the time and not eating or drinking. When I put food near her, she rubs her beak together but doesnt eat. Looks a bit like coccodiosis now

No bubbles, wetness or mucus. I believe the panting is due to pain or maybe internal breathing issues. I love my sweet Pepperoni, and I don’t want her to be in pain. I am extremely frustrated that pet healthcare is exactly like human(in the US) healthcare and virtually inaccessible when you need it.
