2nd kill, carcass 20 feet up tree

No answers so far. The neighbor sprayed a good bit of predator pee. I had the trail cam and he had traps. Nothing yet. He did move the run to exclude the tree. Nothing has hit since then.

Nothing on the trail cam last night, pointed up the tree angled at the carcass.

@aart: Your post on ventilation was invaluable to me a few years ago when I started. Thank you for your wisdom.

I am certain it's using the tree to access the run. I have advised my neighbor to move the run. Unfortunately, the tree is only a few feet from my own henhouse.

    Cod of the Welsummers

Hello, I am Cod. I have been raising chickens for the last 5 years, all Welsummers. First year, 3 pullets from a local breeder, then hatched fertilized eggs when one went broody. I figured 8 eggs would result in maybe 5 hatched, of those, 3 roos. Turned out 8 of 8 hatched and 5 were roosters...

Great ideas, thank you! I have spread flour at the base of the tree and pointed a game cam up towards the carcass. Yes, I do believe the tree is like nature's escalator to a buffet.

This place is amazing, thank you for your insights! I am going to set up a trail cam tonight and try to rake the base of the tree to get some prints. TSC was out of traps so I'm SOL.

2nd kill, carcass 20 feet up tree

Sorry! I am in southern New Hampshire. Here's a photo of the chicken in a tree to give you an idea of just how high up it is. As for the damage, I only saw it for a minute. The coop is a store-bought coop+run, so it's made with 1x1 posts. I think the roost bar got knocked off and feed can...

2nd kill, carcass 20 feet up tree

Hello, My neighbors have pullets, 2 of which have been killed in the last two days, and both have been dragged up a tree. Here's what I can tell you: Last night, something got in their coop around 7pm and busted up the roost area. The carcass is wedged into the crotch of a tree trunk, about...
