My hen had some feathers missing on her neck a few months ago.
I noticed today that more feathers are missing.
There are no signs of scratches, blood, etc. THee is no rooster either.
She is very healthy otherwise.
Can someone tell me why she woul be losing feathers on her neck?
Well, the poor thing died. She definitely had an enlarged crop that was full of brownish liquid.
I want to thank all who helped with advice. She was my son's pet and he will really miss her:(
Okay, the scariest thing just happened. I picked her up to check her crop to see if it was swollen, and she through up this brownish
water. Her crop (I think) was full of liquid. Now she is barely alive!!
My little 3+ month old Rhode island Red is lethargic, hardly eats or drinks and has a weird pale yellow and clear poop.
This is the 3rd day. She was happy and healthy on Wednesday! Any ideas on what this is???

HELP!!! I live in the Cambrian area of San Jose and my beloved "hen" just crowed this morning. We are all devestated as I know I have to get rid of him. ANy ideas on where I can take him?
Also, where can I go to replace him with a couple of hens???

I have 2 Rhode Island Reds ( I think) that are almost 31/2 months old. They seem big for hens, but I am not sure. Looking at other pics of hens this age, some look the same, some don't. I haven't heard any crowing as of yet. I live in San Jose, CA which is a problem if they are...
