I have had mine running for 48 days and have had 27 of 30 eggs hatch successfully. Just set a 3rd set of eggs. I suggest taking a row or two out of the egg turner to maintain humidity better.
I bought 2 digitals and a graduated. The digitals were worthless. The graduated after calibration perfect. Actually is on target with the visual display on incubator. All these shipped eggs just went on lockdown. Fairly certain there is a double yolker and that is my stressor now.
I have heard that happen with them after a few hatches. Sorry for your loss. This is my first hatch and it is working very well. Had to give it a 12 hour headstart to get its temp to even out. Very sensitive to climate humidity. I am dry hatching and still and am adding water several times a...
Did you use add'l guages or thermometers? What was your humidity and temp typically? Plugs in or out? Day 3 of incubation and I am worried, I may be doing this wrong.
The outdoor area is covered but there is a 6-8 inch gap between the building and the roof of the run. The coop is another structure inside the building. He can't get in that. I parked my bichon x in the outdoor run with the chicks. He likes the chicks, and has chased Lester off a few times the...
I Don't think it's an territorial issue. In fact he became quite distressed and vocal when my brood was putting up a fuss, as I showed them how to use the ramp leading up from the fenced area below the coop.
I have a young cockerel (same age as the other chicks) I plan to keep. He is in the group of youngsters, also. Could I get a couple older hens for 'Lester' (the vagrant), to range with? Perhaps, they would capture his attention away from the other girls? I don't plan on allowing the chicks out...
Hello, a few months ago, I had 3 rooster show up on my property. Dumped I assumed. One was killed shortly thereafter by a predator. One, I found a new home. The last a young Phoenix cross (?), proved impossible to catch and made himself a home in the rafters of our barn. Since, then I bought and...
I have 2 buff orpington girls, 4 Cochin girls, a Cochin cockerel, and we had what I believe is a phoenix/polish cross adult roo show up one day and adopt us.
