Hey everyone,
This is my first flock of chickens and know that these guys are always hard to sex. I've attached pictures of them. Theres two brown, two partridge, and two white with brown which I've not seen online. So I've come to the experts to see what you come up with!!! Let me know if you...
Oh really? I was in there today and its blowing good here right now, I though it was almost too much airflow. I was debating trying to baffle the air flow a big. Theres a 3 inch ridge vent the length of the coop as well
I will put hardware mesh inside between rafters. I can install baffles if it's getting too windy but I dont think it will be. The space for air to enter isnt very large to begin with.
Today I built the nesting box, finished the soffit and fascia, and installed the vented ridge cap. If all goes...
I dont have it on the ceiling inside just open rafters. I may put wire mesh in the openings but I'm pretty confident in the soffit being suffice. My whole coop so far has been extra materials from my construction jobs
Man it was windy out there today! Got some more done on the coop. Made the chicken door, roosts inside the coop, insulated/vapour barrier and extended the run to 10ft as recommended by @rosemarythyme. Such a fun project!
@aart here's a picture of the soffit/no fascia
Yeah pretty much, I wanted to create a bit of a hideaway where they would feel safe. I do like the access panel idea I'll do that on the backside, there will be stairs below the door so it wont work there. I dont mind crawling around I'm still young haha. I will also extend the run, but what are...
Updated location, I'm in ontario Canada. The run frame is one of those canvas outdoor garages that I shrunk down to make fit. The reason for no fascia is because I wanted to keep as short of structure with 6ft head clearance. And the door needs to swing out so the fascia would interfere with...
Yes the run continues under the coop. Its 18" high I can get underneath, but I could Jack it up to make it higher?
Im not looking to sell eggs as an income so Its not a forsure thing to expand the flock. I'd go to 9 at most. Extending the run is no issue either
Hey everyone,
My names Eric and I'm new to the forum. I'd like to share my first coop build and first time keeping chickens.
I am a contractor, so 90% of my materials for the run and coop came from my stockpile of extra materials from jobs. The coop footprint is 7ft x 7ft x 6.5ft high and the...
Hey everyone! My name is Eric and I live in Cobourg Ontario, about an hour east of Toronto. I've always wanted to keep laying chickens, and with the current times and staying at home I figured there was no better time like the present.
I am a contractor so all of my materials for my coop have...
