I was going to get another BO roo, but came across an ad for a blue cochin roo who needed a home. So....now we have this ridiculously massive bird that looks like he's wearing jeans lol.
My favorite of the girls is still a BO. She's gonna be a great momma someday (I hope)
My beautiful, gentle, perfect BO roo Skipper died suddenly a few days ago. Everyone is really bummed and the girls are in an uproar. Now starts the hunt for a new flock rooster.
Hey everyone.... Our flock rooster died the other day and we're looking for a new boy for our girls. We're very much hoping for another boy with a good temperment....good with the girls and at least decent with people.
The boy we lost was pretty much an angel in bird skin, and we're missing...
Actually, now that I think about it, he doesn't even get upset if we pick up one of his girls an they squawk and flap. He runs over to rescue them, but as soon as he sees us, he stops and goes about his business, perfectly relaxed.
Needless to say, I'm definitely letting some chicks fathered...
I see this is pretty old, but wanted to chime in a bit. We have an Orpington rooster who this post vaguely reminded me of. At about 6 months, he started doing his dance at my fiance and I. We pinned him and ruffled his tail feathers. This happened a few times, but never went past that. He...
He'll probably retire to a life as a house rooster lol. He spent all evening laying on my lap under a blanket. He acted like he had found his rightful place in life.
It was about dusk. He's only a year old, too. His spurs aren't sharp yet. And he's so ridiculously gentle with humans and the girls (and baby chicks), that I wasn't entirely sure he'd have it in him to take on a predator if it came down to it....Turns out he really is the whole package.
