Keeping a hen broody?
OK, well we put her in the chicken tractor, and she did nothing. We put an egg in there with her, and she didn't sit on it. When we put her back in the pen with the other chickens, she went to the slanted layer box,laid a egg and proceeded to sit on it.What Now? She's a pretty stubborn chicken.- ColonelAstroid

Keeping a hen broody?
We have a hen who is broody and we want her to stay that way, but all our layer bins are slanted to stop egg eaters. She's not the egg eater, and we do have one bin that is not slanted. So we put her in there and she sat there awhile, but when we checked a little later, there were two eggs...- ColonelAstroid

rooster for protection
our rooster is 3 years old, and all the stories I've heard about barred rock roosters are not good ones. we actually didn't really pick him as the rooster, but he kinda picked us. We thought he was a hen. Sorry, guess those stories were wrong!- ColonelAstroid

rooster for protection
I have a rooster who protects his flock /when danger comes he herds them into the chicken coop, and he's been pretty good.Except when we start picking up the hens. He kinda sorta charges. but if we just don't pick up or handle ( or even touch! ) his favorite hens he lets us pick up the not so...- ColonelAstroid

egg eater?
Nice idea! They have oyster shell and every thing, but I've heard that if they are eating eggs, it means that they need protein. Is that true? If so, what protein is a protein I can give them?- ColonelAstroid
