Bought my first 10 day old chicks to be future layers (2 RIR, 2 Barred Rock, 2 Golden Buff, 2 Cream Legbar, 2 Barnevelder) from one of the big online hatcheries. Found out that one of my Barnevelders is a cockerel! Am trying to learn as much as I can. I am hoping to pick a dual purpose breed of one of my current selection, or maybe something else like a Black Austrolorp, and to get a rooster. My goal is to improve the blood lines of a breed where I hatch a few a couple times a year to replace their parents. Also looking forward to trying meat chickens!
