    turkey nesting box

My little turkey hens all wanted to lay on eggs, except for 1 of them. I had 6 hens and sometimes three would be on each nest. We had two boxes and the birds were very excited to have their own turkeys. They seemed to share raising them and share taking care of them. When they were little I...

    turkey poult death

Sorry you lost one. In general turkeys die more easily, and there is nothing you can do. I am a nervous wreck over my poults. they are being raised by their moms and they were born over 3 days so I got all worried and put the left over eggs, 7 with the other turkeys. I did not want the hens...

    Who sells sexed turkeys?

Do you want two one year olds, that are male and female? I am coming to canby and could bring a nesting female and a breeding male, bourbon red male and either spanish black, white holland females. All are great, but I almost think three would be better. Two turkeys are a bit lonely, three is...

    Bourbon Reds for Thanksgiving?

We got heritage turkeys last summer, July 15th, thinking we would be eating them by thanksgiving. No did not happen. They were too young. Then we thought Christmas, still too small. By this spring we butchered a couple, the males mostly, and left 8 hens and a couple toms. Right now we are...

Newbie with turkey mama and chicks

We got 9 poults with two hens. They are doing well. I worried althogether too much about them eating and drinking, but now they are 4 days old and they are hungary and eating. We are just feeding non-medicated food. We will hopefully be getting more poults, there are 4 hens sitting on eggs.

A different way to water chickens-Avian Aqua Miser

Yes!!! We put a bamboo gutter into the 5 gallon bucket on the outside of the coop and in the rainy season we have our watering problems solved!!! Although freezing is another issue and problem. We have an inside and outside source of water for the turkeys in an unheated space. The aquarium...

A different way to water chickens-Avian Aqua Miser

We use the saddle style nipples in the pipe for most of the time, with a bucket with the red threaded style ones in the coold weather. The aquarium heater works when it is cold enough to freeze the white pipe. I have not read every post on this, but the internal pipe heater sounds interesting...

When will my Narrs start to lay?

Our toms are strutting around like puff daddys. The females are starting to be receptive, I guess I need to put a nesting box out for them. Is it really the middle of February? I've got 10 turkeys in an inclosure that is 400 feet total. Is that enough room for all of them to breed or do I...
