Looking for a new pullet or young hen

Lol! I love your chicken math! Thanks for all the tips and pointers. We pretty much have year round summer in SoCal...its 85 today! I wonder if we have a true winter in the mind of a chicken? The amount of daylight is different but temps don't change that much. I think my son, who is the head...

Looking for a new pullet or young hen

Hi all, My son hand raised four chicks, which seems to be the ideal flock size for our backyard. One of his chicks is a cockerel and is going to a beautiful new home in the country where he will be the sole king of the roost this weekend. We ar devastated because he's our favorite but I know he...

What sex is our splash Silkie?

Does the formation of the comb make a difference? This one has a lump there and my other Silkie doesn't.

What sex is our splash Silkie?

Yes, I've read this. Winnifred looks different than our other silkie chick though with the spiky feathers and what looks like a comb forming. Just hoping for confirmation from some of you experts. I've found a lovely new home for our Easter Egger cockerel and if Winnie is a male then perhaps the...

Easter Egger cockerel looking for a good home in So. CA

Wow that’s really ridiculous. I’d be upset about that. I’m in suburbia so no chickens allowed at all. However my location is ideal with no joining neighbors to our property and a 6’ wall. They are super quiet too... until last week when Francesca started to crow. I think I’ve found him a...

What sex is our splash Silkie?

Boy do we have bad luck picking out hens! I think Winnifred is a cockerel... what say you? Splash Silkie approx 15 weeks old. I’m seeing the beginnings of a comb and spiky freathers on back of his head.
