hate to disagree with you all on the coon.....in my experience most of the time a coon will take it with them,,,,just eating the head & ripping into the guts is a little odd really.. a mink or weasel will just eat the head,,maybe some of the organs,,an tom cats will do it..i would set some...
well folks, believe it or not.....styrofoam is used by many old time chicken breeders ... pieces are pitched in to young chicks to keep them from pecking on one another...they seem to enjoy pecking on it....never knew any damage coming from it...i think they dont eat as much as one might...
you folks are a lot "kinder" than me....at the first dead chicken,,,war would be declared!! they are "only chickens" to the dog owner.....i give no warning...blam !
the smaller "hole" in the wire is better..also the bigger the gauge of wire the better...i use tin around most of my pens..used roofing tin...if a coon etc. can see the chickens he will work all night trying to tear the wire or dig under the coop....i keep box traps set at night.. my free...
