    sounds like you are on track with the vitamin e and selenium, i had a lavender silkie from bobbi porto he developed the same thing, the selenium and vitamin e, worked like a charm for me. i have a silver sebright now with the same symptom.

    if you can find some use 7 dust to sprinkle them down good, there is also a spray you can get called adams flea and tick killer, that works great, that is what most of the bird exhibitors use in this area. good luck.
