Thank you! I’m hoping it’s them loosing some of their teenage feathers? They haven’t started laying yet and I have had them for over 2 months now. Also probably some feather loss from bullying from the other girls (hybrid layer hens), for the most part they get along ok but sometimes they will...
Maybe our girls are just getting ready for the summer! They don’t have any noticeable bald patches but lots of new pink feathers growing. I’m not sure of the exact ages of my girls but they haven’t started laying yet so maybe they’re loosing some of their baby feathers... I hope this is the...
My two silkies seem to molt a lot, at least more than my other girls.
Is this normal? Do silkies loose more feathers as they’re softer? They don’t look bald in any spots but you can see their feathers scattered around their closed area and where they sleep there are a collection feathers on the...
Hi Guys,
My Barnevelder laid a small empty egg the other week (3 weeks ago), no soft shell egg just a mini egg with nothing inside. Since then she has not laid again, sometimes I see her going into the next and sitting in there for a while but doesnt lay anything! Is this normal? I’m not 100%...
I left her where she is so she is in a familiar setting, the other girls don't bother her which is good. I haven't seen her eat today, I tried to give her some corn which she usually likes but refused it, she did peck at my bracelet though. I can feel food in her crop but her poo is all liquid...
Today she has not left the coop, she is sat on the floor of their upstairs sleeping area, i picked her up and she did not resist, I am not sure how I can help her? Should I isolate her or should I just leave her be? Everyone else is healthy and outside doing their daily activities
A quick update on this situation, everyone is fine and in good health apart from my cream legbar. She is lethargic all the time, sits down a lot, seems unstable on her feet when walking around. She does eat and drink but not a lot and does not show any interest when I give them treats. She has a...
I isolated them with no food or water for 6 hours and their crop is normal again. I think your right in they just eat food all the time! My other chickens don’t have this issue but the silkies must be more greedy! Thank you!
Please let me know if you think that the neck jerk they do is unusual!
Yes the food is always available, I have isolated them without food or water today so will check up on them later to see if it has gone down
The thing that had me concerns was that they do a weird neck movement like they’re trying to push food down almost/ have something stuck, like a neck jerk...
what do you mean by this? they have layers pellets and are free-range so if that's what you mean then yes! they kinda can eat whatever they want in the garden
