Hi, I saw a list of yours from 2019 of your hen with the bumps on the sides of her mouth. I have 2 hens with this. Did you do treatment? Did they ever go away or spread?
Hi! Hopefully you see this and respond? How did your hen get? How did treatment go? I have 2 Easter eggars that have this exact same thing and I would love some advice!!
Hi! Thank you! Yes I'm pretty sure they are pecking her. I'm getting a saddle and we are building another coop so I was going to put her in it and just free range during the day so she doesn't have to deal with the other chickens much, but now I'm thinking I'm just gonna put her in the garage at...
Hi all, my 3 yo RIR has been lethargic the past couple of days. She then got a really poopy butt and I noticed her cloaca and belly is red and maybe a little swollen. I brought her in and was thinking maybe sour crop as she has had it before but her crop seems fine and is emptying. Her poop also...
My 3 yr old red sex link had bumblefoot on both feet about a week and half ago (our first bumblefoot chicken). Took the scabs off, the right one I think looks good and I did get some sort of kernal out. The left one didn't really have a kernal or puss but everytime I tried digging around a bit...
I have 2 currently, and both 3 years old. They have been laying an egg just about every day, but now one is starting to have some egg problems. She just stopped laying a full egg but one broke inside her and another time I found yolk on her but no shell. I would like to know too because I sorta...
With the older and newer hens I have now 23 but have had a few more in the past couple years (a few deaths, some rehomes). They are free range. Just regular big metal dogbowls for easier cleaning which now I'm thinking I need to maybe get one of the big feeder heavy ones 🤔. They don't have a...
Oyster shells were for my 3 yr old hens :) I just switched from pullet developer to layer a few weeks ago when I got the first egg from one of the newer chickens. I'll definitely get oyster shells again though for newer and older hens
Thank you! I just went and gave her one! I had to break it in half because she kept spitting out the full pill but she ate both halves fine.
And good to know we've kept oyster shell out over most of the winter but all they did is knock it everywhere and I never once saw them eat or peck at it...
Thank you! I do not as my chickens won't eat it and I live a hour away from town so won't be going in until Friday. I do have Kirkland calcium + D3 and egg shells from my other chickens. Would that work? The pills are big though and hard. Should I crush it up?
Hi Everyone! Located in N Utah and have raised the same 20 chickens for about 3 years now with a few deaths, rehomes, and a few gained that were hatched by their mama. Got 8 more last fall, so I know have 23 hens! Still learning, especially with this new batch of chickens who have all just...
My 5 month old Buff Orpington just layed her first egg. I went outside, saw her running with something, grabbed it and it was a broken Soft shell. She had yolk all over her face and feet I think from eating it. Checked her backside and there was yolk coming down her vent. I think the egg broke...
