I agree with you on that so if possible I want to avoid cross breeding them with the standard Toulouse geese, but it’s very hard to tell the difference, do you know of any key distinctions?
Within a few hours that’s crazy! Wow I really need to add Dewlap Toulouse or super Africans to my breeding program because I’d probably make a small fortune😂. Hatcheries are selling newly hatched females dewlap Toulouse for over 200 dollars! Then again doesn’t it take like 2 or even 3 years for...
I don’t know but I’m pretty sure she’s quite young, she hasn’t layed eggs yet. I like the Asian swan geese derived breeds too and I REALLY wish I could get some super African geese but they are so hard to find and so so expensive. The hatcheries just started putting their goslings up for sale...
So I got another pair of geese today and was told the female is a brown Chinese goose but to me she looks more like an African goose. The only thing that makes me unsure if she is an African goose is the fact that she is a little smaller than the male who is a white Chinese goose, aren’t African...
Ok thanks I love both breeds equally but I just wanted to know for sure what breeds they were to avoid cross breeding in the spring. It kind of annoys me though how the people on Craigslist who sold me the first set of geese had no idea what kind of geese they were lol.
I bought four geese from someone who claimed the geese were pomeranian geese several months ago. Then a few days ago I bought 3 geese from someone who claimed the geese were Toulouse Geese, and they said they were from a hatchery so I’m pretty sure that they are Toulouse geese. However upon...
I have some geese penned up in runs if I let them free range so they can enjoy the grasses growing on the property will they run away or fly away? I have 10 acres but some of the perimeter of the property is not fenced, the geese’s home pen is near the center of the property but I’m worried they...
I pulled the dead chick out of the egg and there was absolutely no fluid and the membrane was papery, is this for sure a sign of shrink wrapping due to low humidity specifically in lockdown?
Personally I’m now leaning towards too low of humidity, many of the eggs appear to have gotten shrink wrapped, although I’m not exactly sure how to identify if that’s what has happened. There is a hole in the membrane where the chicks are emerging but no unzipping, and the membrane is very brown...
I’m incubating quail eggs right now and having a horrific hatch rate, most of the chicks are pipping and never unzipping, or unzipping and never hatching, or hatching and then dying because they’re feet are all curled up and deformed for some reason. Of the chicks that have hatched HALF had...
The eggs are from my own adult birds, I feed them 14% game bird maintenance feed. Also the hens just started laying, these eggs are like their 3rd or 4th eggs. And my egg incubator is a standard Chinese incubator, I don’t remember the brand but it has two levels and is designed to hold up to 120...
😭Calibration is so hard and infuriating I was working on calibrating the incubators like five times for an hour each because I think I accidentally make the calibration worse than the factory settings and then I have to reset it and start all over again it drives me crazy😭. I’m afraid to...
So I’ve now moved two sets of quail eggs into my Hatcher, in the first set 7 hatched out of about 12 eggs, 2 pipped but never hatched, and 1 was fully developed and never pipped. In the second batch it’s the end of day 18 now and only one out of 12 has hatched, and I don’t see signs of pipping...
I don’t have any photos but I see everything is dark and then at the round end there’s a circle and then an empty spot at the round end where there’s no darkness.
