UPDATE 10 weeks now. I am still saying pullet. She/he has some really dark red on the wings which still worries me though
Her/his comb is still pink but not deep red like the known cockerels.
I have 3 8 week Easter Eggers. So, far I can tell that 2 of them are cockerals. The 3rd I believe is a pullet due to its pale small single row comb and general demeanor. However, its coloring pattern is throwing me off. I really hope she is a pullet. I hatched out 13 eggs(Easter Egger, Buff...
Buying shipped eggs is a gamble. I have done it 3 times now. Only once was successful. 1st time they got lost for 15 days in the postal system, 0% hatched. The hatchery, Meyer, was awesome and resent some more eggs at no extra cost. I count that as the 2nd and I received those eggs in good...
Thanks. Nothing fancy, just some Australorps, Buff Orpingtons, and Easter Eggers. In 2 weeks I will be starting a batch of true Ameraucanas. So, I will be doing the shipped egg thing again :)
Here are some in their temporary brooder. They stay in this small brooder for 1 week. It makes it easier to monitor them and any issues that they have. Then they move onto the big brooder.
*Update* A quick review, we started with 24 eggs. After a day 7 candling 5 were removed for bloodrings and 3 removed for being clear. At day 14 candling all of the remain 16 eggs had growth and movement. 16 Eggs went into the incubator on lockdown on day 18.
After 36 hours of hatching, 14 of...
We are finishing up after 38 hours.14 hatched out of 21 fertile egg, yielding a hatch % of 67%. 3 Easter Eggers, 6 Australorp, 5 Buff Orpingtons. Not bad for eggs shipped across the country during the Christmas shopping season.
Yup that is me. I have you to thank for that. You recommended that Idaho/Utah group too me. It really is an awesome group, great people. Thanks, again.
Yeah, I should have a few more sensor built out around spring time, if not a little before that. When I get them built I was going to offer...
This is a caboose hatching to the NYD hatch-a-long. 1st one is out, Buff Orpington. She/he 360 degree zipped in 20 mins and out was out of the shell. 15 more to go, hopefully.
*Update* I figure I would do another update now before I forget ;) . Out of 24 eggs 3 were removed for being clear and 5 more for Blood rings. So, only 16 eggs are left in the incubator.
