Someone recently at a high producing chicken farm that they can tell Roos from hens by the little knot on their ankle, if they don’t have one then they are hens but all of them have them, is this knot present on hens and Roos generally?
I have 2 Americaunas (EEs)and 5 sussex chicks. I am not sure of age but would guess about 4-6 weeks. The biggest difference I see in the chicks is tail length. I am not sure if this can determine hen v roo but take a look and tell me if you think hen or roo. I have multiple pics of each!!
I recently purchased 7 chicks and have been in a guessing game ever since! I have 5 speckled Sussex and 2 americanas! I also have 5 with longer tails and shot hair on the legs and 2 with longer shorts look with hair and stubby tails. They all act like boys so I am terrified I have all roosties!
