Yes, but only for short runs. For big projects, wire cutters leave you bloody and arthritic big time. For big projects, I'd say an angle grinder is not at all overkill. And if you do use wire cutters, get flush cutters. Otherwise you end up with what amounts to a limb saw blade along every edge...
