The reason I was gonna separate was so they could eat a lot. So I could feed them out. I guess what I'm wondering is do I have to feed them out or feed then normally and when the time comes they will already be big enough to butcher.
I've been raising Cornish x and I know they are different. My question is when raising a dual chicken for meat. Do I feed them meat bird feed when they are chicks or do i wait til they get bigger like near adult then separate them? Then feed them out for a month or so?
I just bought 10 cornish x chicks. I was wondering if there was an app that would kind of help me along with this. This is my first time raising this type of chicken and I'm all about apps that help.
I have access to tons of free shelled peanuts. I was wondering if I could feed broiler chickens peanuts? Do you think I could get away with just peanuts in their diet? They are high in protein and fats and they will be butchered in like 8 to 10 weeks so I don't care about long term.
Y'all are awesome and helping me out alot. One more question.ive been dumpster diving at the local grocery store for vegetables for the chickens. They also have some meat scraps that are usually still frozen. I feed my chickens meat scraps on occasion. Can I feed my broilers meat scraps and...
Thanks for everyone's help. I've got another question. Someone told me that i can breed Red rangers and get the same meat bird for a few generation's. Is there any truth to this? I'd like to be able to do this so I don't have to go through the hatcheries. I can just incubate them and have some...
I'm really wanting to raise some meat birds this spring. I've raised chickens most of my life but have never had much experience with meat birds. I've read that cornish x eats a ton of food but they are ready in 6 to 8 weeks. I know the red rangers take a little longer, but do you feed them as...
I've been wanting to get some Red rangers to raise and put in my freezer. But I've learned that since they are a hybrid I can't breed them and get the same type of chicken. I'm wondering what other breed can I hatch out on my own and get the same quality bird? That way I don't have to spend my...
I was wondering if it would work using a plastic tote upside down with openings so they can come in and out as they want? You think the plastic would hold the heat? It would be in a shed. Any ideas or input would be appreciated.
I was wondering if there is really a difference in using distilled water or tap in an incubator for humidity. A hen isn't really the cleanest of animals. I see eggs hatched in chicken poop all the time. Anyone ever hatch with tap water ?
I found some wick filters at walmart that look like the wick moister pads for cabinet incubators. They are a lot cheaper than the moister pads. But are they the same? Any info would help!
