Turkey Poult Weak and Sick, Help Please

I had a similar problem with one of my burbon red toms. But since this site was upgraded I'm lost and don't even know how to search for what I did to help my Tom over come it. I fed him a eye dropper of water seeped in dried habanero flakes and in a couple of days he was much better. I felt bad...

    The natural way

I had a flock of RIRs 3 years and had 2 go broody all those years. The first one starved her self to death. Dispute having her own private food and water that was about 3' away. She would not get off the nest. She died before she hatched a single chick. The second one sat on 8 eggs but only...

    The natural way

Just hatched a few hours ago. She's sitting several more eggs. I was amazed too exactly 21 days. My other two hens sat a little over 4 weeks before the first chicks hatched - but it was colder then too.

    Hubby disinterested in poultry..

Speaking as a guy. I like turkeys much better than chickens. Turkeys are delicious and I enjoy having a big stuffed Tom on the Thanksgiving table, that I raised and and processed myself. It's grown into a family tradition... Sure chickens are ok but Turkeys rock! Maybe see if your husband...

    It's definitely a rooster.

RIR Hen + BO Roo = RO?

This is the best looking 7 week roo I've ever had (Red Orpington?). He's very friendly and gentle. Loves for my grand daughter to hold him. He climbs up on her shoulder and rides around. I kind of hate to see him destinated for the stew pot but I already have a productive BO Roo.

    First turkey eggs

Pretty sure there is at least on turkey chick now - I heard the high pitched "weep weep weep" sound of a baby turkey this morning while sitting one the porch. It could have been from a wild turkey also though, we have lots of wild turkey around here.

    The natural way

One more hen started brooding yesterday. She's sitting tight on 12 eggs. I think this is the last hen I'll allow to brood. I don't need but about 16 hens to carry us though the winter for fresh eggs. The cage I built to fit over top of the community nest works beautifully. I add to the eggs...

    First turkey eggs

Hens are still sitting tight but i have not seen any chicks yet... I tried to get a close look but one of the hens took a chunk of flesh off the top of my hand. Turkey hens peck way harder that Chicken hens. They won't even come off the nest for cracked corn anymore either. I separated the Tom...

    If chickens could talk

Lol that's a good one. The red chick is a heratiage RIR (hen) BO (roo) mix - it's a puffy rooster with some green tail feathers coming in. It'll be interesting to see what he's going to look like when he gets older.
