Ok, thank you. I've never had such an active brooder! Three eggs yesterday were playing bumper cars all around the brooder. Then those two in the brooder right now have relocated all un-hatched eggs to the other side. One 'egg' screamed at them while they were doing it too. This'll be a...
Thanks for the tips. They were left out of the incubator for 24 hours after shipping. They were kept at 38⁰ until lock down. They aren't the same breeds but I have a feeling these little guys didn't make it.
It's been forever since I've posted because things have been going so smoothly for years! Now though I have a delimma.
I'm on day 25 of incubating chick eggs. I started with 17 eggs. Six hatched on day 22. On day 23, I float tested and only six eggs were still "viable". I tossed the bad eggs...
Our integration area is much bigger and 'neutral' territory. We use a cornered section of our yard that's a triangle with the longest side being 20 ft long. We use that flexible green fence stuff to section it off. That doesn't work though. The pullets get a running start and slam into it...
The run is 6x10 with no hiding spots. The smaller run that's beside the big run is 3ft x 6ft with no real hiding spots. They are close enough the two runs touch.
I added the most docile hen yesterday and the 3 pullets crammed their heads into the corner and wouldn't move, even though she...
I tried to come up with a way to divide our run into two separate areas but that leaves no access to the doors. I thought side-by-side was our best option.
So I do know our lightest colored Bovan isn't very mean to the younger ones. How long should I put her in with the EEs before trying...
I've integrated 5 different flocks in my lifetime and this last one is the worst yet! I'm not even sure what to do. I've hit youtube and read everything on here, but my issue remains.
4 - 2 year old Bovans
3 - 18 week old Easter Eggers
The Easter Eggers live in a run beside the run the...
We are signing to sell our house on July 27th. At that time, our new house will begin being built. It'll take 5-6 months. I need someone to watch my chickens while we are in a rental/appartment. We will supply the coop and run and all of the food. We will come feed/water them and keep the...
So, starting at the end of July, I need someone around Ogden with a backyard who can babysit my chickens. They are confined to a coop and run. We will feed/water them, clean out the coop, etc. All we need is a spot to keep them and someone who will let them in at night and out in the day (or...
I know it's for dogs, but we used Rover.com to find someone to come take care of our 10 hens. They collected eggs (which I let them keep) and then let them out in the morning and in at night. They just charged us the same as they would for house-sitting a dog.
