    Sexing Spitzhaubens (5-6 months old)

Thanks guys! I'm glad that my initial instincts on them weren't wrong. I believe so! She's a lot less white than the example I've been able to find on Google, but it's such a nice color. We call her our five dollar foot long because of her color and how she turns into a loaf when we pet her, haha.

    Sexing Spitzhaubens (5-6 months old)

So I was reasonably sure both of our spitzhaubens were female, until my wife mentioned being slightly worried one might be male because her waddles are bigger... And now *I'm* worried about it. We got them in early May, so they're 5-6 months old now. Waddles only grew in over September, since...

Porcelain booted bantam, male or female??

Thank you! I really love her coloring; the silver/blue fade is just so pleasing.

Porcelain booted bantam, male or female??

This is Twix - approx 6.5 weeks old. Initially thought roo because she was the first in our mixed group to show comb, but it hasn't grown or reddened at all since. No other similar babies to compare her to, but our last booted bantam too was much more developed by this age so now I'm unsure.

    Quail having difficulty walking? :/

That's kind of what I was thinking. I was hoping he'd beat the odds, since he's been doing so well up until now, but I probably need to do him a kindness at this point... At least the hutch I ordered for him to live in won't be a complete waste - somehow one of his siblings ended up being a...

    Quail having difficulty walking? :/

Figured this might be a better place for this than the general emergencies/health issues forum since I know quail aren't really everyone's thing. Today I noticed that one of my quails' posture was off - he was kind of walking with his chest down on the ground. He's albino and blind, so I guess...

What does this mystery bantam look like to you?

I thought it was starting to look kind of like a sebright... It looked so different from my other ones as a chick. I wonder if it'll be a lot darker than my other two as an adult, too.

What does this mystery bantam look like to you?

I've got a few updated pictures now that some of its feathers are coming in! I was still thinking some kind of OEGB until I noticed the comb doesn't look like my others. So now I'm back to being unsure.

New Quail Chicks! -- I think we hatched an albino?

Took a couple of 2.5 week update shots! Unfortunately, we had some bad luck with this group and lost a few a bit later than we usually expect to... We learned that one of our cats can undo latches.... unfortunate for Black Eyes. :( Yellow had a mysterious limp one day, no visible injury, and...

    new to quail

I didn't have a chance to get pictures of all of them today, but the babies are at my favorite stage: when they look like fancy little old ladies wearing enormous fur coats. Bean is such a zen little creature, she lets me hold her and never tries to run away. :) I know it'll change when she...

What does this mystery bantam look like to you?

These are the best we could get, hopefully they help? Little guy doesn't like being held still.

What does this mystery bantam look like to you?

Oh, interesting! I'm not sure what hatchery my Tractor Supply uses, but I would not be disappointed to have it grow into such a pretty bird.

What does this mystery bantam look like to you?

I accidentally looked too long at the bantam bin when I went to get more food at TSC, got excited about them having silkies and what I think are porcelain d'uccles - but then I saw this little dude(tte) and really liked its dark coloration! My first thought was some kind of OEGB, since the...

    Another TSC bantam thread :)

Couple of follow up questions: - what color OEGB is this? I've been assuming BB red, but only because her chest is red and I want her to be a pullet haha - my 3 sebrights' comb areas all look like the one pictured below. They're nearly 5 weeks old. Is this indicative of them being female, or is...

    new to quail

I agree that local is best, since shipping eggs can really affect your hatch rate, but since you have other fowl already you are probably familiar? I've gotten eggs from Myshire, random sellers on eBay, and most recently, Thieving Otter Farm. Had good luck with all of them. It just really...
