Now that I ended up making it tall enough to walk through, I don't really need to close the door from the outside it's actually so easy to herd them into their little house and close the door.
They are sooooo much happier outside. It's a bit of a dirt pit right now because we had to level it out a bit but once the grass comes through it'll be great
Now that I'm googling hardware cloth it makes more sense. I'll definitely check that out!
We're doing a hinged roof for sure so I can just scoop everything out or even just sweep it out the door. I've got some plans to keep the roof waterproof where it hinges.
There's just the 2 of them. It's a 9 sq foot coop and I was thinking of doing the run 6'x10'. My only concern is if I close up the top of the run so nothing just jumps in, how will I get in to lock the door at night? I tried to talk my husband into doing a 5' high run so I can just hunch over...
The bottom has a tarp so hopefully the wood doesn't rot underneath. Have to build a door and put chicken wire on the windows. Then we want to do a hinged roof to make cleaning a bit easier while also making sure it stays waterproof. Hoping to have them out soon because they're starting to look...
I really hope you guys are right. They already hate being picked up and I think wrapping would piss them off even more. They're like grumpy teenager ducks right now.
Hello everyone,
This might be a dumb question... Do they need to be able to reach the bottom of their water dish? Do they drop the food to the bottom and fish it out? Or do they keep the food in their mouth and pick up water? I gave them a dish deep enough to fit their bill and they were...
I gave them their mirror back and gave them a stuffy. They cuddle the mirror and pretty much use the stuffy as an obstacle course lol. Today I brought them into the bathroom and sat on the floor with my legs out and they were hopping up and down off my legs. I didn't realize ducks could jump...
That's a great idea. I gave them a mirror and they loved it but my crazy mind was like "is this hurting their bonding with me?". Perhaps it was jealousy because they loved it so much.
