    Sleeping in nesting boxes

Darn! Live and learn, I guess. Too late to block them off now if removed in the early morning?

    New to backyard chickens

Thank you! My original plan was to buy chicks, mostly Rhode Island reds, but we came across these brown ones at a nursery that were bigger and could go directly into the coop. I was a little disappointed not getting chicks but I love these girls. I have spoiled them too much because they...

    Sleeping in nesting boxes

I do kick them out of their nesting boxes and onto the roost before I go to bed and they do hate to be bothered. Mine wait till I close them up and snuggle back in. Guess I will need to keep trying.

    Sleeping in nesting boxes

My chickens snuggle in their nesting boxes at night. I've thrown away a lot of eggs due to having chicken droppings on them. Is this a rooster?

Lol! He's beautiful, I love him but he's quiet all day! I kept thinking that roosters are loud all the time. Is a quiet one unusual?

    Is this a rooster?

Hi, I'm new to backyard chickens but love reading the info! I have 10 chickens and I suspect one of them is a rooster. It does not crow during the day. It's a little loud in the morning but that's it. I have only had chickens for a few months so I am totally new to this.
