    I hatched 5 CCL chicks a week ago. I initially thought there were 3 pullets and 2 roos, but now not so sure. I think 2 are obviously roos, one obviously a pullet, but not sure about two others. One looks like a female but has the tiniest white dots on its head...like a millimeter.

    To me it looks like the membrane might be dry and shrunken, but I've never done this before so maybe this is normal? Thoughts and advice, please?

    Recommendations on Paint Type?

    Anyone have recommendations on the type of paint that is best to use inside and outside of the coop? I would like something that is resistant to mildew, easy to clean, good coverage, etc but also not toxic to the chickens. TIA!

    Oh, that would be great! I'll hold out hope then. I'm not sure if the breeder has a guarantee that would allow me to return a male...and my kids are quite fond of "Daisy" and would be so sad if we had say goodbye! 😊

    Oh, wow! Is that breed heavier than Leghorns? Because that would explain why the one with black spots is so much heavier than the other one when they were hatched the same day!

    5 weeks old, local breeder.

    These are supposed to be 2 White Leghorn pullets hatched the same day. The comb of one is larger and more orange. The other one has several black feathers on her body. Are they both pullets? Are they both white leghorns? Lol

    I have 34 eggs in the incubator... They are a mix of Crested Cream Legbar, Isbar, Crested Cream Legbar X Isbar, and Crested Cream Legbar X Black Copper Marans. They should hatch the last day of April!!!

    Wow, thanks so much for all the time you have invested in giving me all this advice! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I wouldn't have thought about needing more landing area for higher roost bars. 🤦🏻‍♀️
