I currently have Muscovys, which more or less just ignore the poultry net fence (electronet) and find a way to fly out or in.
Is there any particular breed that works better? I would rather move my chickens and ducks around in the same pen.
Thanks,
Cul
I hadnt thought of that, thanks for the info. I have however seen the drake put the run on the muscovy a couple times, also he stays 'close' but not close enough and refuses to go into the coop.

I have a mixed bag of ducks and trying to decide who should be given away. I have an older roen pair (2+ years), young female roen, young male pekin, male call duck, young muscovy pair. They have been getting along great and I assumed that the male would start fighting sometime in the spring...
Someone was moving and giving away these two young ducks, he said they were rouen ducks when I got them, but they are not, least they dont look like my rouens.
They were all white and have slowly developed more black on the head and the formations around the bill. The black on the bigger ones...
Oh, another question. Is it ok to be eating the eggs while they have a yeast/bacterial infection? How about while I am treating them with the apple cider vinegar and crumble mixture of applesauce, etc?
Thanks,
Cul

How many chickens will that mixture cover, ie I have 15 laying hens, how many batches roughly? And do I do this just the one time, then just yogurt daily?
Is the grey area at the bottom of the hen her keel bone, or something else? Dirt and diarrhea?
That grey area iswhere feathers...
In regards to feed, it says it has vitamin A 10000 i.u./kg and Vitamin D-3 3000 i.u./kg and vitamin E 25 iu/kg.
In regards to my sick chicken I am now pretty sure its not an abscess cause I just found tonight that a couple others have it as well, though not nearly as bad. Here is a picture of...
Sorry for the slow response, had to head out of town unexpectedly.
She is laying eggs and while I have done nothing but clean her off, she seems to be doing better, going to take a closer look again tomorrow when the wife is home to help. Let you know if I notice anything more specific.
As for...
Thanks for the reply.
The white stuff on the outside, matting the area below the vent was solid and cheesy, though that could be cause of drying. The area below the vent, her belly I guess, is more fluid when you push on it, its like a sack of liquid, not cheesy.
She is a year old, so yes...
I noticed one of my hens had some white on her butt, so I caught her and I think she has some kind of abscess that is draining out her vent. The vent itself looks ok, but it looks like the abscess is pooling internally and has created a sack of fluid below the vent and the skin there is an angry...
Thanks for the tips I will give this stuff a try and see what happens. Last year they were free range, but so far this year I have just been moving their pen around since when I let them out they all run straight across the field to the garden. Once the garden is done I will let them out again...
I have 15 laying hens, all about 1 year old. They were chicks together, they lived in a coop together, they spent the winter in the same barn, then back to an out door movable coop again in the spring and were there for a couple months. As of a couple weeks ago they all started pecking on one of...
moenmitz is there a chance you could post a picture of that setup. My 4 pekins and 1 rowan go through 3 gallons of water in about 15 mins in my coop, makes a hell of a mess and wouldnt mind seeing yours to go with the description.
Thanks,
Cul
Wow, that sounds like a lot of work and effort! What regs are you referring too, I went back through your posts and didn't find anything detailed enough to see what must be complied with?
