The spur buds on the back of their legs will be more pronounced with a tom.. hens have the buds too so it is not 'fool-proof.. but with experience it is the best way I have found.
I lost around 20 chicks to coccidiosis trying to raise them organically.... finally buckled down and now feed ALL chicken chicks with medicated feed for the first few weeks..problem solved for me.
If this "is"(?) your problem too,..you will likely loose them all, if you don't get some medicated...
If I can add one thing to this thread..it is to wash the bloom from your fresh eggs really well with dish detergent and a washcloth . You can feel the slick bloom soften and clean off. This step seems to make a big difference when hard boiling eggs.
I use a big rice steamer and fresh, rinsed...

Yeah my turkeys are so wild and seriously keep there distance!! They will run to my morning call and join the feed line, but they will never let me get close! My chickens are a different story!.LOL
Really sounds like a coon to me! Fences will be no problem for them and they live around water.
Daylight killing might be a mink, but mink usually eat fish exclusively.
I have seen coons kill every hen in a coop for fun..like 30 birds!! and not eat any of them!
