So a little back story, I picked up this heritage bronze tom from a local 4-H who had hatched and raised him. He even apparently lived in the house with the kids who raised for a while. We call him Reginald (Reggie) and he follows us everywhere, totally enamored with people. We got him to breed...
They get their shipments in every Friday! Wow I might have just missed you I was there today too! I need to go in and get two more chicks I think, we just lost two of out Marans to our giant Anatolian Shepard. (They don't carry Marans, I'm not sure what I would replace them with, any ideas?)...
Ohhhhh I think you mean Sabas? Saba Live Poultry, it's a live halal meat shop, you go there and pick whatever bird you want and they slaughter it for you. All kinds of ducks, chickens, geese, and others.
Wow I have never heard of them, they look gorgeous. With those two breeds they should have some great egg laying capacity. Though they look like they lost all the Rhodie weight of a meat chicken. What colour are their eggs?
Haha ha awwww! (I love cows) I don't think that duck is going anywhere. There probably is much wild instinct left if she is domestically bred, as well none of the other kinds of ducks migrate. We have two Khaki Campells, a Fawn and White Runner and a Peking.
Edit: Our flock consists of 3...
Awwww what a gorgeous golden laced Wyandotte, it looks roo ish though. See how the pattern doesn't really extent to the head and the wattle is coming in larger and quick. (It is still early though) The silver laced looks like a pullet. My Silver never even grew a comb.
Tennessee Treeing Walker Coonhounds!
Halley (Hay-Dog)
(Dat bone)
(Just before she flushed a deer)
(Sometimes I question why she tolerates my shenanigans)
(She likes to sleep in the sleeping bag when we go camping!)
A Rouen is a domesticated version of a Mallard, usually larger. They probably wont migrate but can defiantly fly more than other kinds of domesticated ducks. Chances are if her flock is more grounded she will stay with them. Plus if you have a pond/water feature and regularly feed them they have...
So the darker one in front with the stripe on it's face and the band on it's wing is a female Mallard. The second one looks more like a Khaki Campbell.
