Sorry I haven't replied, I have been away. Thank you for letting me know about selling the guineas and what you feed your birds. We do feed our chicks start n grow 24% and the feed does have grit in it. Thank you for the information.
Sorry, I read your post so fast that I didn't realize you had posted the age of your chicks. I saw that you had gotten guineas and was wondering if you would be selling some in the future. I had hatched out a dozen guinea eggs and only 3 made it. Out of those three, two them died, the one that...
I cleaned out the hutch yesterday and took off the top layer of dirt, it was full of mold. What a mess that was, it took me half the afternoon to clean it all up, but it is all done. I then put down fresh pine shavings, I feel a lot better now that I know all of the mold is gone. We took Miracle...
Its ok, I understand, I don't want to give anyone any wrong info either. I have sad news, my little runt died last night. I don't know about this breed we have. It's actual name is rose comb brown leghorn, for some reason none of them seem to be growing like you would think. Our Delawares are...
We feed her start n grow 24% and we put vitamins with electrolytes in the water. I checked the date on the bag of food and it is fine. She has plenty of water, hutch is well ventilated, and it is in the shade. Also the temp here has gone down and is now a comfortable 70-80 degrees. After I read...
Has the tiny chick that you have grown any at all? Also how is it doing? My little runt which is a brown leghorn is seemingly to be very tired all the time.
On 6/28 I posted that I had found one of my brown leghorns at the time was 3-4 weeks old, lying on the hutch floor trying to get up, but couldn't. Her left leg was straight out and her right leg was under her. She didn't have any strength in her right leg and she couldn't bend her left. Also...
Thank you for sharing your experience, its nice to know that their is someone else that has info. And that you aren't the only one dealing with what is going on with the chicks.
What kind of treats do you give your chicks?
I removed the food and gave a few hours and the crop went down flat. I put the food back in, she ate and now her crop is a lump and is hard as a rock again. Do you know why that has happened? If I feed her yogurt will that help? What if it is impacted? Is there anything I can do for that?
