Broody hen sitting on chicken AND duck eggs

Thank you, would it be ok to move them to an incubator early or should I wait it out until she leaves them?

Broody hen sitting on chicken AND duck eggs

My hen has gone broody and made it a habit of collecting eggs from other birds. I didn’t think she’d take duck eggs since the ducks usually lay in another coop but I checked on her today (about three days after she first went broody) and she has two runner duck eggs and one khaki egg. Is it...

Mice and rats found with just the head

The rats come from a neighbor’s yard, I’ve seen them coming over the fence. Food is also in a locked bin over night.

Mice and rats found with just the head

This is the third morning in a row finding just a head. First time it was a mouse, second it was a rat, now it’s a mouse again. Any ideas? Did her foot look worse than the others? As for the Epsom salt, I used it on my chicken (once a day for about a week and...

    What's a recessive gene?

Short answer: Recessive genes need both parents to have the gene for the baby to get it. Long answer: A perfect example is blue vs brown eyes in humans. Blue eyes are recessive and brown eyes are dominant. For the sake of explanation, a capital B is going to represent the brown gene and a...

    Question about earlobe color?

My white leghorn rooster has yellow earlobes. The ear color usually goes with the egg color so I’d imagine any breed that lays lighter colored eggs is a possibility

    Question about earlobe color?

I’ve only ever seen naked necks with red earlobes but I’m far from an expert on nn’s. Any possibility he could be crossed with something else?

    Happy’s Memorial Thread

Some of you may have seen my posts about Happy, my little quail who’s been on and off dealing with bumblefoot. I’m sad to report that she passed away a few days ago. Despite her illness, I’m confident she lived a good life. She was with her best friend Jasmine, didn’t pluck her feathers, and...
