Oh that's interesting! I did notice that she seems to have a similar temperament to the silkies in general, so far they get on surprisingly well and the duck has been following the two hens around the coop😅
Yeah we currently have a few too many roos haha we are planning to give them away at some point soon, though they do all get along fine at the moment - thanks for the advice, we will likely get another muscovy hen and either move them to the lifestyle block together or rehome them together, so...
Thanks for the advice! Yeah that is a very true point, I do feel sorry that she is alone with no other ducks so currently we are deciding between purchasing more muscovys or rehoming her.
Hi all! I need some advice about keeping muscovy ducks with chickens - we have rescued this (female?) muscovy who was stuck on the side of a foresty bank and are temporarily keeping her in our pen with two silkies - they seem to be getting along very well as the silkies have not minded at all...
thanks for the input!! yeah that is definitely something else I have considered, although I don't think the silkies would have much of a reaction since those two stick to each other and roost for majority of the day (not much pecking around). However I'm not sure if a new hen would purposefully...
Hey everyone I just wanted some advice because I have been contemplating getting my hen a new friend. I currently have three hens: one white leghorn and two silkies, they get along well but the silkies are a lot older so they prefer to spend every day in the coop or roosting. Cloud however is...
Hi everyone, I’m a bit alarmed because this morning my leghorn hen laid an egg but it seemed to be missing some shell. In the past few weeks she has also laid eggs which looked a little cracked but I thought it was because I might’ve accidentally bumped them or something. She gets a diet of...
He’s about 10-11 months old, that’s what I was thinking too except this came out of nowhere:( weve picked up the hens and played with them in front of him before but he was never aggressive until now.
Hi everyone! I was wondering if someone had any insights into this issue: my rooster Curry is the sweetest chicken ever because we hand raised him and he loves cuddles just like a little puppy, but today one of our 6 month old hens laid her first egg and he was suddenly SUPER aggressive and...
Sounds like it might be his diet, having too much protein (it could be the eggs) or drinking large amounts of water can make the poop look watery. Maybe try feeding him just some normal chick starter and see what happens - it doesn't sound too serious but if he shows other unusual symptoms I'd...
