9 week old juvenile drake, with sprained leg or flipper☹️

Hi my Drake had a problem similar to this where he couldn't walk on his leg. I felt no fractures or dislocations. I gave him brewers yeast on his food for a few weeks and he healed up very well. Brewers yeast has niacin in it which he was obviously lacking.

    ARE THESE EGGS GARBAGE NOW?

So my hen went broody she spent two days laying on her eggs. She gets off in the morning to eat and drink then she goes back on. This morning however she went back in to the wrong nesting box and the eggs were left unattended for a good 8 hours until I got home from work and moved her back...

Hi.. I have been trying to find some information on what a "show quality" partridge Chantecler should look like. I hatched some in the summer and of the two hens i have left they look totally different. One is really robust and has the single lacing on her feathers. The other one is not a...

MY hens got some frost bite on their combs, looks as if they will lose some of the comb tips.. Will this effect their future laying abilities in some way? I know when Roosters freeze their combs it can effect them, so I was curious if it would do anything to the hens.

What’s the coldest temperature ducks and chickens can stand?

Ahahaa.. It's sooo true. We've had a cold snap here -3o's without the windchill into the -40's for two weeks now. Every time I put out fresh drinking water those damn ducks go right for it, jump in and start splashing around. They then spend their day with frosted feathers and not a care in...

How do I tendorize tough meat?

Hey so I have(had) a two year old Rooster who has been free range his whole life, ready for the pot. I am hoping someone can tell me the best way to tenderize his meat and cook him (i'm assuming in a slow cooker).. I tried cooking one of our hens and it came out so tough you could hardly eat it.

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

thank-you for your advice yesterday. The membrane stayed moist with the Vaseline and 6 hours later the yolk was absorbed. the chick was wedged in its small shell so tight in a bad position it was unable to open it's own shell so I did have to help it out. I'm pretty sure it has wry neck and...

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

So it's day 23 of hatch and everyone is out and happy on day 21. SO I flip over one of the eggs left in the incubator to candle and there was a pip on the pointy side face down. I peeled a big enough hole for the chicks beak to get some air and the membrane is quite dry but not really absorbing...

Hi so as I write this I have a chick who pipped it's little beak out on the pointy end of the shell. Apparently when the others hatched they rolled it over without my noticing, so it was also nose side down. It's day 23 i was going to clear out the eggs that didn't hatch and heard the peeping...
