Hi all, happy belated New Year! Have been struggling for more than 8 months with ladies who wouldn’t lay. At first I thought it was them just molting, and then the change of weather in GA, but after a near complete strike with all 7 of them, knew it must be SOMETHING. They weren’t laying outside...
Hi all, two questions…. Found this growth on one of my ladies, between her feathers. Initially thought it was a tick but upon further inspection, appears to have feathers growing from it. Do you know what this is, and as I’ve been super lucky with the health, does anyone know if the dark spots...
They are three years old, and I’ve only seen one or two go through molting (last year). There does seem to be a lot of feathers in the coop but they all look healthy. How far in advance would they stop laying when molting begins? It’s been a couple weeks without eggs 🥺 thanks for your help
Thank you and yes, they free range but not without supervision and not very long. We have a lot of predators so we try to keep an eye on them. Hopefully you are right and I find some eggs soon!
Hey all, I have 7 ladies but have not been getting more than 1 egg per day for the last several weeks. Most usually it’s the same gal laying. I’ve changed the food to see if that makes a difference and know weather changes and/or molting can cause less eggs but this just seems really unusual...
About three weeks ago for the first days, then followed up with the second dose 10 days after (because I was traveling). I’ve never seen a round worm before so appreciate the identification and any other info or suggestions you can share.
Hey all, have a flock of five which recently grew to 8. I’ve treated the pullets with Corrid as a precaution prior to introducing and have waited three weeks before fully integrating. The ladies have all been recently treated with ivermectin. Today, I found what looks to be a type of work in one...
hi all, I have five hens (about a year old) and in the process of adding 3 (eleven week) pullets. The lady on the lowest level of the pecking order made sure to ‘bully’ the new girls chasing and pecking them at every opportunity upon introduction yesterday. I separated them last night as I...
Hi all, I have five hens: 2 BO, 2 EE and one OE. All of the hens are now almost a year old and have been laying for several months. One of the Easter Eggers lays blue and the other lays pink. For the last week or so, I’ve been getting two blue eggs almost every day. I’ve read that this can...
hi all, noticed some strange white, threadlike strings in our eggs today. Can someone please share whether these are worms or something else, and what steps I may need to take? Thanks!
