After 40 years of wanting chickens, I eased into it by sharing responsibilities with a dear friend. A couple of years later, I got my own coop and chickens in my own backyard. Three are from our existing flock and four were babies. All of this came to fruition as my battle with cancer ebbed and flowed. I am a nurturer by nature, so having these precious little girls helps to fulfill that part of me.
