    The Agony of Vacations....

When my wife's water broke 1 week early, I simply filled the 7gallon waterer, and filled thier feeder and dumped an extra bag in the 1/4barrel of grit they have. 3 days later I came back to 60 eggs in the nest box and healthy happy chickens.... Quite a bit of food was left over and only had...

    Preaching to the choir... PICS

This is all about the all mighty dollar. Most people don't want to pay $2/lb from a farmer when they can get it for 99cents/lb at Wallmart. The only way you can get it for 99cents a lb is to have factory farms.... What I find funny though is people who are willing to pay $2k for the latest...

Moving.... big dilemma with the chickens... =(

The one suggestion if you are going to have them in the basement is to build a enclosed room and line all 8 sides with vinyl flooring and hook up and exhaust fan on a timer. Put a heppa filter on the air inlet (smaller than the exhaust) and do a neg pressure closed system. Personally I...

Whose at the bottom of your pecking order

Sadly I think I caused my poor "drumstick" to be on the bottom of the pecking order, she turned out more sandy colored rather than brown like the rest of my ISA browns, so from the beginning she has been the chicken who I used when I introduced the chickens to the dogs... Since I could tell her...
