Will My Cracked Egg Still Hatch?

Initially it could have been incubated, but when she sat back on it the egg was completely smashed and yolk was all over the nest.

Will My Cracked Egg Still Hatch?

So I found this thread and was super hopeful that a cracked egg I found this afternoon would make it to day 21 after adding some fingernail polish. It may protect the egg from bacteria, but it didn't restore to structural integrity and the egg completely collapsed as soon as mama sat back down

    Fluffy Butt Friday

I'm not sure why, but when I see a large chicken with a fluffy butt, I'm reminded of this scene from the animated version of Robin Hood.

Any chance this is not a rooster?

Also check in with the place you got the chicken. Often, they will guarantee the gender accuracy to 90%. They may let you swap or send you a replacement.

Any chance this is not a rooster?

Yes, it's a rooster. Two birds isn't bad, but I've found that it's much easier to integrate a single new bird when they are as young as yours are. So, if you are considering making the swap, do it now, before all the hormones kick in.

Advice needed - what to do after a runaway returns

My old roommate had an EE hen that would escape the backyard and roam the neighborhood all morning before coming back to lay. Sometimes, she would help herself to the scraps left at the base of a wild bird feeder a neighbor had in her front yard. We found out later that she would sometimes lay...
