Ive since removed the wings due to age, but we got fake moth/bird wings (kinda like a cape, tbh) and wrapped them around the brooder. this seemed to mimic mama hen sitting on them i think, and made them rather calm.
attached is an example of the "wings"
I highly suggest it, lol! We also moved them to be higher up, which seemed to release more anxiety!
We wrapped fake wings ariund the brooder, too, alongside the teddy. This made them VERY happy!

Problem solved!! they even stopped pecking the wet-eyed one and theyre totally healthy now too!
Hello! I have used a hearing scope that drs use to check his lungs etc, he has no congestion or issues there!
He has a full, warm red heat lamp.

in my vet classes they always suggested injections with proper sleep gasses first, etc, or hand culling methods that are vettrusted (like the broomstick or neckbreaking in general)
People have posted this before in the forum and have come to the conclusions before of: This is still suffocation. Its like holding a chloroform rag to someone.
This is /still/ suffocation. Its still dark, scary, and takes 30mins to an hour to cull. Thats a long time to be scared and alone in a...
OP has turned down multiple responses of hand-culling the chicks and seems to only want a hands-free approach.
From what I've gathered they may be scared to do an improper cull and cause the animal more harm.
I am of the opinion that gasses, pills, even lethal injection are drawn out and...

We have lots of natural hides and they have their coop, of course.
While we built the thing this morning all over hawks where flying and calling!! scary stuff. cant wait to get a dog and a bigger...
