Hi, thanks so much for considering this. I am having a major mouse problem in my coop right now that I am losing the war on. I need to get the chickens and their food out of there! Can anyone take my 3 hens, a buff orpington, an olive egger and a plymouth rock? They range from 3 to 5 years...
Hi, our chicken's problem turned out not to be gapeworm. It was probably something stuck in her crop as mentioned. We followed the suggestion of massaging the throat/crop with a bit of olive oil, which helped after about the third time. Good luck
Great information. Thanks everyone!
But now I'm even less sure :)
At what age could I be more positive...would like to get them a good home before winter hits if they are 2 roos.
Hi, I have three 10 week partridge silkies. Please give me your thoughts on their sex...can't keep any roos! Thanks! Sorry for the sideways pics..

Hi I have 3 partridge silkies, about 6 weeks old. I'm not an expert but i've got an idea, so let me know what you experts think! None have developed combs/wattles
Thanks

Hi - one more thing...if I have a "production red" pullet, do you know how good they are as egg layers and what size egg they will produce? I bought the so-called buff orps for egg-laying, so now I'm wondering if I should keep even the red pullet or buy a few real orps. Thanks you guys have...
Bummer! Not pullets or even buff orpingtons. Won't be buying from that place again. Is there any reputable online hatchery?
Thanks Guys very much for your input and if anyone else has a cockerel/pullet opinion about these 2 please still chime in! The chicken swap is tomorrow morning. :(
So the consensus is the 2 are cockerels. Can one definitely tell at this age? Just want to be sure because there is a chicken swap tomorrow that I might try to see if anyone wants 2 cockerels. We'll be sad to let them go!
Hi! I bought 3 buff orpington pullets, who are now almost 3 months old. 2 of them have had bigger combs and wattles than the other one. But I thought that was just some variation. But now the combs and wattles are getting Much bigger, and redder then the other hen. And, these 2 have black...
Thanks! The gaping has been occuring for 2 or 3 weeks now, so would that make it more likely that it was gapeworm vs. something stuck in her throat? I can't seem to find a chicken vet but will keep looking.

Hi, I have a 2 month old buff orpington hen that frequently opens her beak and sticks her neck out (gapes). She occasionally shakes her head, but not often. No coughing or signs of respiratory distress. Occasional sneezing but it seems like all our chickens (5) do that. They've been mostly...
