When I candled the eggs they were clear. I rather think that my little rooster is sterile. I will try again aànd hope for the best.

    Crested Phoenix with feathered feet

He has become a beautiful bird. It is hard to get a good picture. Every time he sees my camera he runs. Love the tail and saddle.

    inbreeding chickens?

Father daughter inbreeding is usually successful providing the birds do not have any obvious flaws.

    Natural breeding thread

    Three of five eggs hatched.

    Booted Serama

Of the five eggs, three chicks hatched. A fourth egg is in the incubator as a possibly late hatch. The fifth egg died early in incubation. Not bad for a first time!

    Natural breeding thread

This bird sitting on eggs in the shower. She is way too valuable to be free range. I do have females sitting on eggs free range style.

    Bragging on my rooster

I do not know how to do the video thing. The crow is not as loud as a egg song.

    Bragging on my rooster

I have a video that shows what my rooster crows like. I am not able to put it on here, but I could send it to you if you wish.

    Bragging on my rooster

The rooster is a booted serama. His crow is medium, but his brother has a soft Crow which would be fine in town. This serama pair is in the house. The crow is soft. Many serama have a very loud Crow so if you get one make sure it is an adult where you know what the crow sounds like.

    🌿Hatch-along! Nature Themed!🌿

I love to get some Japanese bantams. I am getting four or five eggs a day. I only have a few hens. I also have three hens brooding sitting eggs and one with chicks. This one is in the house bathroom sitting in the shower. Serama pets.

    Bragging on my rooster

My roosters are way too small to defend against a dog or any large predator. They do a great job of watching for Hawks and alerting the flock. I rarely lose any birds to the big big hawks.

What did you do with your flock today?

My free range birds are locked in today. Having a winter storm and snow and snow and snow and snow. No plan letting the birds out because they wouldn't find anything to eat anyway.

    All my crazy projet ideas!

    Booted Serama

It is not uncommon for serama roosters to help care for their young chicks. It will be interesting to see if this is a paternal rooster.
