Fearful runner ducks don't go outside

They're between 2,5 and 3 months now I'd say. I can't remember much about the quacking... I know they still do a lot of "peeping" like babies, but I'm pretty sure the majority do have a raspy sound... maybe even all three -_-

ok, well then I guess I shouldn't bring in a drake until I know the sex of the three young ones, right? if it turns out they're not all females then I guess I'll have problems... I will try and find some adult females then to add to the band and hopefully get everyone to calm down a bit!

Wow, ok, glad I asked! So does that mean if I find a "threesome" then that's ok? or does it have to be just females? Thanks again!

Fearful runner ducks don't go outside

Hi everyone, I've got one more question to add to this thread... Well, the ducks are still terrified, seemingly more so of me now that I've been having to catch Bees everyday to rinse his eyes (which are still not fully healed...) We've found someone in the area selling two "adult" (6 or 7...

Fearful runner ducks don't go outside

I've tried going and sitting near them, if I reach over to put food close enough for them to realize what it is, they run away and hide somewhere else. If I sit next to them for a while without moving or getting too close (I have to REALLY creep up in slow-mo for them to not spook), they will...

I also have another question: We're planning to adopt a couple more from a friend of a friend in August or September. According to her, they are quite calm compared to ours. Is it wishful thinking to hope that adding some calmer adults to the group will reassure everyone else, or will the flight...

Fearful runner ducks don't go outside

We had been planning to build a covered run for them this autumn because neighbors where we lived said that weasels would come and kill their chickens in the daylight starting in the fall because that's when they have babies to feed. I'm just a little disappointed because we had heard so many...

Fearful runner ducks don't go outside

Thank you all for your anwers, I can at least better understand their behavior. It's possible they did see a predator as we live at the edge of the woods and in the country so I'm sure there's plenty of animal action about. Miss Lydia I was only feeding them that because when I was giving more...

Fearful runner ducks don't go outside

Hello runner duck owners, We recently adopted three runner ducks who were aged between 1.5 and 2 months when we got them. They've been with us for three weeks. They were and still are very frightened of people and try to run and hide at the slightest advance. Maybe after three weeks it's a...
