Large bulbous growth under wing of Quail

Quick update, quail's still looking happy and active; I tried soaking him in a warm tub of water for some time however saw no change in the shape of the growth, nor did anything seem to be released from it. Additionally, I've tried candling it with the brightest light I have, however was unable...

Large bulbous growth under wing of Quail

While I haven’t been able to identify any wound, it is rather difficult to see the entirety of the growth. As there’s no harm done with a bath in warm water, I’ll give it a try, and report back. As of now, the quail’s behaviour hasn’t changed.

Large bulbous growth under wing of Quail

It feels like a mass of liquid that has pooled under the skin, the skin will deform slightly however not much. It doesn’t feel like the skin stops because it contacts anything solid, just because there is a large amount of pressure that’s pushing back. I have just thoroughly inspected it, and...

Large bulbous growth under wing of Quail

I wouldn't say it feels "Hard", like flesh, it does feel like it's under pressure, but fluid pressure. It will squeeze in very slightly, only a millimetre or two, but it definitely feels like it's full of fluid. I couldn't imagine any other way for something like this to grow so quickly, if it...

Large bulbous growth under wing of Quail

I've had a flock of rescue quails for over a year now, I believe them to be Japanese but can't say for sure. Today, my maid told me that when she was feeding them she saw what looked like a rat in their aviary, and that the male of the group was holding his wing out. Thinking it was hurt, I...

    Deformed Chick?

From the pic I can't see any prominent deformities, and for fresh hatchlings deformities without symptoms aren't your biggest of worries, those can be sorted, or, worst case scenario, culled later. The only thing to worry about in the first couple days to weeks of a chick hatching is primarily...

*please help* chicks scared of water and won’t eat chick feed

Hi, First and foremost, and I'm sure you've worked this out by now, real life isn't like the cute youtube videos where cats will snuggle up to baby chickens. Cats, dogs, and larger birds will instinctively try to attack baby chicks. Be very mindful of what your pets and other wildlife are doing...

Japanese quail with everything possible wrong, need urgent advice

I usually feed them tonnes of fruits, berries, vegetables, and supplements, but the only thing she's been eating since the attack is the seeds since it's the only thing she could eat. Anyway, I'll try hand feeding her some egg, get some polyvisol (no iron), and find whatever the hell has the...

Japanese quail with everything possible wrong, need urgent advice

I'll keep this brief because I'm typing with one hand (the other is nursing my quail), A few weeks ago I came home to find one of my male quails was attacking a female, she was badly hurt, both eyes scabbed over but otherwise seeming unfazed. I spent ages sterilizing and cleaning up her wounds...

Potential disaster with imminant chicks, mites everywhere.

I'll keep this short, a chook of mine went clucky 3 weeks ago, I decided to put 7 eggs of various breeds under her. It's now been 20 days and this mourning I heard cheeping sounds coming from the eggs. 9 hours later when I went to check up on them 1 of the eggs had hatched. The chick looked...
