    Apple seeds contain a substance called amygdalin that can release cyanide under the right circumstances such as contact with digestive enzymes. In small doses, you shouldn't have a problem, but I don't chance it with my chickens. Just never give them bowl of apple seeds ;)

    We first off the cups (with brackets) I found on Ebay, You can find better prices if you shop around but, I always do best on the bay. Be sure to get the cups with brackets to avoid leaking and such, it's just way easier than fiddling with it all the time if you mess up. The brackets fit 1/2...

    Its gravity fed, with pvc pipe and the cups can leak easily if debris gets caught in it, so I use hose screens, but its been the best system I found, If I get a chance, I will post some pics for you :)

    I have a 55 gallon barrel hooked to water cups leading inside and outside the coop, works like a charm, and very clean!

    I'm very confused whether to heat my coop or not, as well as having proper ventilation.

    Personally I use scratch as a morning treat and as the main diet (currently) is grower, they need the healthy protein.
