I hope not everyone is nursing a bad head, or hopefully won't be soon ;)
My question is this, in sunny old England, it has in fact been super windy and done pretty much nothing but rain, the fences are down, the grass is now slosh and mud and well, it's just generally very miserable weather...
Well I let my girls out this morning. And despite best efforts to close off gaps etc. She got over again. BUT after doing my usual search to see where she's gone. I found her in a bush literally less than a meter away roosting. Egg production has virtually stopped since it got really cold. So...
Yeah I'm always checking on them. I probably spend far too much time with them to be fair. They're so much fun to watch though. Better than t.v!
Kaytee and chickens r us. To put it bluntly. Hell yes! Haha I've been feeling down about it all day. Was so glad to see her back
Just a quick update - She is back, I just went to do a quick check and she was fumbling around outside the fence trying to poke her head through the holes. Normal balance restored!
Thankyou. On one hand I dread to think where she is, whether a group of cats or some other predator has got her. But on the other she's probably having the time of her life!
Haha I am nuts about them! I usually mull over problems in the bath etc too I've walked everywhere around my street...
Well I'm in the garden now keeping a close ear out for her. I always said having 5 would turn out strange but I didn't want one to go missing. It was quite strange how quickly I grew attached to them haha.
I don't think I could handle chicks :-P there's no rooster so I hope to God I'm ok on...
Under pots!? I'll have another look when I'm out of the bath. Thanks Trish. I hope she does come back. There is a small gap in the chicken fence she usually goes through but she never strays too far so I never really gave it a second thought. I've covered it now though.
Ah thanks, that's very much appreciated. I found a hidden nest in the garden not long ago with like...25+ eggs? How I missed that is beyond me. But I'm not risking using them now. Can they still eat the shells though?
Thanks again, it was really useful to know
