Thank you so much for the help. We will increase the calcium and I am on the look out for a hen or juvenile to adopt. A rescue may have one as well. I really appreciate the feedback.
Will she accept another hen? I am afraid to chick will take a while to get in the coop as she has to grow her feathers and have heat. Maybe a juvenille? I am worried that she is lonely now.
Will she accept another hen or juvenille or chick? We would have to keep a chick in the house until summer so she is ready for outdoors and that could be a while.
We have had 2 hens for 2 years and one of them has become very inactive, a bit bloated, won't eat and when my husband went to pick her up she just let out diarrhea : ( She seems lethargic and has trouble keeping her eyes open and right now she is staying in the corner in the coop and will not...
I appreciate all the information you have all provided. I have another question. Our other hen who has been laying eggs at least once a day has just laid a soft shelled egg. Could she be stressed with the other hen missing or could she have the beginning stages of egg peritonitis?
Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I took her to the vet and they said she was so distressed and full of fluid and she struggling to breath. There was evidence of upper respitory problems and egg peritonitis which means the yolks were depositing into her abdomen. Poor baby. They did not...
Thank you so much for your response. The hens were seen for worms on their initial vet visit when they were younger. My husband checked her abdomen and it is like a lil water baloon. I don't know what it could be. I am afraid of hurting her so I will probably have to take her to the vet even...

We brought her in and put her in a large crate with a heating pad under some towels and gave her yogurt and fresh water. She has not eating or drinking. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
There is nothing we can do? What are some of the signs. I do recall a shell-less age once passing not too long ago. I honestly thought the lack of egg production was due to the cooler weather and that it was no reason to be concerned : ( I appreciate your reading and response.
