New to chickens ... any help with gender and breed

I won't be much help. But are you saying that the rooster was an Ameraucana and the hen was either that or RIR? If so, the hen was not the Ameraucana. The comb and leg color are wrong for that.

    Easter Egger lays white egg

I have an EE that is similar in color to Kit Kat and she started laying a month ago. Her eggs are the pinkish brown color. I have another EE that is white and another that looks like Kit Kat that are yet to lay. I am holding out hope for a greenish egg. I was quite disappointed in the...

Soo EGGCITED! LOOK WHAT I FOUND TODAY!

How old is Sausage? She looks similar to mine. Maybe I should start watching more. I was thinking I was a month away. Mine are 18 weeks.

    Texas

JellyBean-- I also got mine at Callahan's. All have been healthy and I believe all are pullets, just as I asked for. And it is a fun store to look around in, too. They had the varieties you mentioned in June when I got mine. I know because I got three of the ones you named.

Help Identifying McMurray Rainbow Layers PIC HEAVY

The one that did the poo looks like my speckled sussex did when she was a baby. Different comb than the EEs and pink legs instead of slate. I am new to this, too. So just throwing out another option.

I don't like this roller coaster!

I would put a piece of tape over that light switch when you are incubating to prevent another accidental shut off.

Hair wrapped around toe! Help! *UPDATE* She is doing good!

This is an interesting dilemma to me. Believe it or not, I have been wondering what I would do if this happened to my chicks. I do not have my babies yet. I plan to get them tomorrow. The reason I had this thought was because it happened to me with my baby daughter when she was a couple...

Have you seen the price on poultry netting??

If you don't need to worry about night time predators, did you consider deer netting? It is cheap and pretty easy to work with.

    Cheapest alternative...

Deer net is 7 feet by 100 feet and about 12.50 at Lowes.

    Stuff do in Seattle?

As a former Puget Sounder I can tell you where we took our visitors. If you want to do the standard things, I would suggest checking into the City Pass. You can google that and see what all comes with the pass. Pike Place Market is a must as others have said. A walk down along the waterfront...

Ya know, This is the price I pay...

These stories are wonderful. My kids are grown up and live a long ways from me now. I miss those days. My stories would all be about my very sweet niece. She did the lipstick on the floor, (although hers were all kisses) and many others escapades as a toddler. One of my favorites was when...

Hey, all you lurkers! (I mean YOU!) Register and talk to us!

OK----This seems like a good time to come out of the darkness. I am a lurker. I lurked for months and then registered and I have lurked for another few months. If you look at the list of people on line----I'm almost always there. I am one without chickens, so I don't have anything of real...
