I received this chicken as a rescue chicken and I am not sure what kind it is. It's face is similar to an Easter Egger but it is small like a silkie. Have had it over a year and it does not lay eggs, but it doesn't crow either like a rooster. I have no roosters. Anybody have an idea?
My silkie coop is 4'x 4' sqaure, 52" tall at the top front of roof, and is plenty of room for 2 silkies, 1 bantam and a Buff Orpington. They free range during the day, so I think it would house 5-6 silkies/bantam comfortably. The bantam sleeps in the rafter of the roof.
I think you may not want to base it on minimum height for chickens but what minimum height would be for you to be able to crawl under there if necessary. I have mine at about 20" and that allows me to crawl under it if I have to repair a watering nipple or clean out a feeder. I have my feeders...
